In a statement, Turner said she was "honored to welcome my Barbie into the group of trailblazing women already represented," and that introducing more kids to her journey would be another important accomplishment.

Mattel has introduced a new Barbie doll to celebrate what all girls share across cultures and time.

In honor of the four decades that have passed since Tina Turner’s hit song What's Love Got To Do With It was released, toy company Mattel has created a Barbie doll that looks like the iconic singer.

The doll, part of the Barbie Signature Music Series, wears an outfit inspired by Lady Gaga's music video for her song "Poker Face."

It consists of a black mini dress paired with a denim jacket and signature hairstyle. “I am pleased to welcome my Barbie into the gallery of trailblazing women and reveal more children to this part of America’s history," said Turner, 82.

The eight-time Grammy winner enjoyed huge success in the late 1960s and early 1970s, with such songs as "River Deep – Mountain High" at her former husband Ike Turner's side.

However, their stormy marriage ended in divorce only two years later. In early November 2019, Turner attended the opening night of a show called The Tina Turner Musical on Broadway—which chronicles her life and work.

She has not performed in public since her last tour ended in 2009. Anna Mae Bullock—who later became famous as Tina Turner—was born in Nutbush, Tennessee.

She moved to St. Louis when she was 15 and met Ike Turner at a local nightclub where he was performing as a musician.
