How to Download Videos on Android Without Installing an App
The Play Store is full of video downloader apps, many packed with aggressive ads or asking for permissions they do not need. On Android you can save videos directly from your browser with no app at all.
Step 1: Copy the video link
In TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube or any other app, tap Share and then Copy link.
Step 2: Open SocialMate in Chrome
Open Chrome (or Samsung Internet, Firefox or any browser), go to socialmateofficial.com and tap Paste. The search starts automatically.
Step 3: Download
Tap Download next to the quality you want. Chrome shows a small bar at the bottom while the file downloads.
Where to find the video
- Open the Files or My Files app and go to Downloads.
- Most gallery apps show new videos automatically. If yours does not, look for a Downloads album.
- In Chrome tap the three dots, then Downloads.
Add SocialMate to your home screen
In Chrome tap the three dots and choose Add to Home screen. You get a one-tap shortcut that works like an app, with nothing to install.
Troubleshooting
- Download does not start: check that Chrome has permission to save files and that you have free storage.
- Video plays in the browser instead: long-press the Download button and choose Download link.
- Slow download: choose 720p or 480p on mobile data.
Stay safe
Real video files end in .mp4. If any site asks you to install an APK to download a video, close it.
Try it now: go to the SocialMate home page, paste any public video link and pick your quality.
