How to Download TikTok Videos Without a Watermark
TikTok lets you save some videos inside the app, but the saved file usually carries a moving watermark with the creator name, and many creators turn downloads off completely. If you want a clean copy of your own TikTok for editing, posting on another platform or keeping as a backup, an online downloader is the quickest route. This guide shows how to do it in under a minute and explains what quality you can expect.
Step 1: Copy the TikTok link
Open the video in the TikTok app and tap the Share arrow on the right. Choose Copy link. On a computer, open the video page and copy the address from the browser bar. Both long links (tiktok.com/@user/video/…) and short links (vm.tiktok.com/…) work.
Step 2: Paste it into SocialMate
Go to the SocialMate TikTok downloader and paste the link into the box. On a phone you can simply tap Paste, which pastes the link and starts the search in one step.
Step 3: Choose the version you want
SocialMate lists every file TikTok has stored for that video. Typically you will see:
- HD 720p or Full HD 1080p without the watermark, when TikTok provides a clean version.
- A smaller version of the same video, useful if you are short on storage or mobile data.
- The original file with the watermark, clearly labelled.
- MP3 audio of the sound or song.
Tap Download next to the file you want and it is saved to your device.
Why is the video only 720p?
TikTok compresses videos after upload. Even if a creator filmed in 4K, the platform often stores the video at 720p or 1080p. SocialMate always shows the real resolution TikTok provides and never upscales a file, so what you see in the list is exactly what you get.
Downloading photo slideshows
For TikTok photo posts (slideshows), the images are listed separately so you can save each picture in full size, along with the background music as MP3.
Tips for creators
- Download your own videos before deleting them or changing accounts, so you always keep the originals.
- Use the clean version when you repost your own content to Reels or Shorts. Platforms tend to show watermarked reposts from other apps to fewer people.
- Keep the MP3 of your original sounds if you want to reuse them in other edits.
Respect other creators
Removing the watermark does not remove the creator rights. If the video is not yours, ask for permission before reusing it and always credit the creator.
